Shiply Hotfix Product Overview
When critical issues occur in a live app—such as crashes or functional defects—we usually want to fix them quickly.
However, fixing code and releasing a new version to app stores often takes a long cycle, and user coverage also requires considerable time. This inevitably affects the online user experience and can even cause production incidents.
App hotfix is designed to help developers address these scenarios. It provides a powerful, stable online hotfix solution that lets developers quickly fix live issues without republishing, with no user awareness.
1. What Problems Can App Hotfix Solve?
1.1 Urgent Fixes for Live Issues
When serious live issues such as crashes or functional defects occur, releasing a new version is costly and coverage takes a long time. App hotfix provides convenient, user-transparent fix capabilities to help businesses resolve issues quickly.
1.2 Lightweight Version Upgrades
From development and release to version coverage and data feedback, new features often require a long cycle to close the loop. App hotfix provides a lightweight update capability that enables fast, user-transparent upgrades when changes are relatively small.
2. Advantages of Shiply App Hotfix
2.1 Industry-Leading Hotfix Engine
Shiply uses Tencent's self-developed Android mobile hotfix engine Tinker as its core. Combined with extensive internal business practice, it has been heavily optimized for patch stability, compatibility, and activation speed.
In terms of fix capability, except for resources managed by the system such as AndroidManifest.xml and RemoteView, other dex, res, and so assets can be updated—enabling feature-level updates.
2.2 Continuous System Compatibility Adaptation
As operating systems and build tools evolve, we continuously follow compatibility work. The OS is currently supported through Android 15, and AGP is supported through 8.x.
- Android OS versions: 5.0 ~ 15
- minSdkVersion: 21 ~ 28
- Android Gradle Plugin: 3.5 ~ 8.x
2.3 Convenient Integration
Multiple integration modes are supported. In addition to Tinker's default integration mode, we also provide an Application proxy integration mode.
This mode significantly reduces integration cost and resolves compatibility issues with third-party dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt.
2.4 One-Stop Release Management Platform
Beyond the core hotfix engine, we provide a complete cloud service for patch distribution management.
The hotfix release platform offers one-stop patch release management, including task management, release approval, gray rollout, real-time statistics, and release quality monitoring integration—ensuring fast, safe, and stable releases.
